Stephen Flamm

I founded Cincinnati Strength & Conditioning in 2008 as an outlet for my interests in coaching, education, and physical training, and quickly discovered a passion for how to take individuals from point A to point B. Along the way I have been privileged to be a part of hundreds of clients’ journeys and growth, both in-house and remotely, along the full spectrum of re-hab, health, aesthetic, and performance goals.

I absolutely love functional fitness, anytime I can talk about it or direct people to it, I try to do so because the benefits are incredible. My passion for that comes through in my coaching. I love giving instruction and seeing that passion transfer to another person.

I currently train at Cincinnati Strength and Conditioning where I pursue my love for CrossFit, and competing, having participated in numerous CrossFit competitions throughout Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. I also competed on the Cincinnati Strength regionals team at the Central Regionals in 2015. Olympic Lifting and CrossFit are my passion and I love teaching it!

I started the Crossfit Kids program in December 2011 and began coaching general classes about 2014 (? – because I also coached in 2013).  I’ve ran since high school and did a the occasional nautilus lifting before trying crossfit at CSC in June 2009.  I stayed at CSC because of the excellent programming and coaching.  I started coaching because I wanted to help encourage confidence and fitness awareness in children and adults through physical well being.

I coach for two reasons. The first is because I enjoy watching people progress through their own personal fitness journey and learn to live a healthy lifestyle. I am on my own journey and know how much I have changed and how much this lifestyle has shaped and influenced the person I have become. Secondly, if I can be someone who makes their journey easier, or more enjoyable by teaching them something, offering them encouragement, or just being a friend when they need something, then I want to do that. I’m very thankful for the mentors I have had along the way and I hope to pass that forward. After spending a year coaching at Cincinnati Strength, I took the opportunity to travel west where I trained competitively at OPEX, and coached at one of Arizona’s largest CrossFit facilities. It was there that I realized what CSC meant to me, not only because of the quality of coaching and programming, but because of the character of the coaches and members.

Since I started at CSC in early 2013, my life has completely changed (those who know me closest know that this is an understatement). Even when I moved away for over a year, I was still remotely coached by Stephen & Staff. The instruction is top-notch, the programming is thoughtful and progressive, and the people (THE PEOPLE!) are there for you every step of the way. In addition, I am allowed to continuing stoking that competitive fire – I still haven’t reached the innate potential in this marginally athletic frame. I decided to coach because I believe in this place, and I want to share my experiences with others. While there will be times that competition is flowing, you will have a helluva lot of fun in the process. Also, I’m a morning person – bring yo coffee, 6AMers!

I began coaching in 2016. I’ve also participated in several local competitions as well as the Crossfit Open for the past 3 years. My enthusiasm for coaching stems from my passion for fitness and aspiration to help others grow and better themselves. I joined CSC in May, 2016 and was attracted to the welcoming environment and the commitment the athletes there have for cross fit.
